Questions about puppy picking

Fill out the Contact Us form and ask for our initial email for all the details!

We guarantee the puppy to be in good health as confirmed by our veterinarian when purchased. It is imperative that your new puppy visit your veterinarian within two (2) business days of your purchase to confirm the same. We encourage you to contact your veterinarian to set up this appointment prior to puppy pick up day.

Yes! If distance prevents you from coming to our house for puppy pick up, transportation through American Airlines, or our ground transportation service can be arranged for an extra fee. Final payment & fees for transportation need to be paid 7 days prior to puppy transport.

Puppies are generally sold with limited registration (no breeding rights), for family pets only.

If you are interested in raising a puppy for breeding purposes, please contact us for availability.

Our puppies are $3,400.

When you are ready to commit to a puppy, a non-refundable reservation fee of $500 is required in order for us to begin looking for the best puppy for your family in the litter(s) we currently have or are expecting. The reservation fee is deducted from the total price of the puppy.

How & why do we choose your puppy for you...

It is our privilege to match each puppy with their forever family. We have spent hours every day, for 10+ weeks, with these little balls of fur.

We cuddle them, play with them and watch them experience new activities. We take notes & document each encounter and their responses. When they are ready for their new homes, we know each puppy’s personality and character traits very well and are able to pair them with their perfect family.

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?

Before we accept any deposit, we will schedule an interview to “meet” you over the phone. We begin the conversation with some questions to find out exactly what you are looking for in your puppy.

1.  How would you describe your childhood experience with dogs?

2.  What has your adult experience been like?

3.  What breeds have you had experience with?

4.  What are the best things about the dogs you have had in the past?

5.  What are you most looking forward to about having a dog in your life?

6.  How sociable are you and your dog likely to be?

7.  How would you describe your ideal day with your dog?

After all of these questions (and general information you volunteer during our conversation), we have a very good idea of what special puppy characteristics to look for when choosing the right puppy to pair with you/your family.

WHY IS TEMPERAMENT TESTING IMPORTANT?

We believe every puppy deserves a home where they can be their best selves and every family deserves the puppy that suits their property, their lifestyle and their desired goals. There are no two puppies exactly alike. Even with puppies from the same litter (just like children from the same family) personalities can be extremely different. Puppies range from shy/timid to outgoing/fearless, with everything in between. This is what makes our profession so exciting! Having new puppies, getting to know their special qualities and finding the best family possible for them, makes the long days and sleepless nights totally worth it!

With careful daily observation and assessment of each puppy and their unique characteristics, we get to know the pups with great intimacy. This knowledge gives us the ability to place them in their best homes, based on our phone interview with you earlier.

Here is a partial list of the character traits we look for in our puppies.

1.   What is their confidence level?

2.   How motivated are they to do what is asked of them?

3.   What is their nerve strength/resiliency?

4.   How touch tolerant are they?

5.   What is their energy level?

6.   How sound sensitive are they?

7.   What is their sight sensitivity?

8.   How friendly are they to other dogs?

9.   Are they human focused or pack oriented?

10. Do they have a prey drive?

11.  Are they tenderhearted?

12.  Are they food driven, toy driven, praise driven, or nose driven?

Once we know what you are looking for and we know the needs & strengths of each puppy, it’s pretty easy to make a great match for both the puppy and their forever family! It’s the absolute best part of puppy raising!

Other Questions

ENS is a series of 3-5 second exercises which our puppies go through every day from days 3-16.  Puppies are introduced to brief amounts of safe stressors at a slow and easy pace. These neonatal exercises have an optimal effect on the developing neurological, endocrine, circulatory, and immune systems, and produce puppies that are calm, stable, and recover quickly from stresses and fearful situations.

For more information about Early Neurological Stimulation head on over to our page about how we raise our Labrador puppies!

ESI is an exercise that helps produce puppies with better nose awareness and confidence and has proven to be very beneficial for their brain development. By exposing them to different scents from days 3-16, we increase their brain potential and produce a more balanced dog with potentially fewer behavior problems.

For more information on Early Scent Indication check out our how we raise our puppies page!

Our breeding program offers these unique curriculum activities to open up a world of opportunities for new puppies to experience sights, sounds, textures, smells, and water. Every day we introduce new items with the intent of allowing each puppy to gain confidence in themselves and learn to trust humans at their own individual pace. All of these activities help to build confident, resilient pups that will be ready to take on the world with you!

Yes! We highly recommend Inukshuk for the lifetime of your best friend. When adopting a puppy (up to two years of age) from us, we recommend the Inukshuk 26/16 formula. Retrievers adopted after two years of age we recommend either keeping them on the 26/16 formula or switching to the 30/25 formula if they are active. Both of these can be ordered online from Chewy.com

There are so many different options to choose from these days! Some of the following products  we find that our puppies love. We do not have any association with these brands or suppliers, so feel free to source them locally or online.

Disclaimer: Very few toys are safe to leave with your puppy unattended so use these at your own risk.

When you first bring your new friend home, we strongly encourage you to use a well- fitting harness. Since your puppy is still getting acclimated to walking on a leash, we want to avoid pressure on their windpipe as the cartilage rings aren’t fully developed.

We like flat collars for attaching an identification tag so if your puppy happened to get away, someone knows how to return them home. Once your puppy is a little more comfortable walking on a leash and is a little more physically developed, attaching the leash to a flat collar should be fine.

Yes!  We include an excellent online puppy training program with the purchase of your puppy. The course was created by one of the top trainers in the country, Chris Williams of Work Your Pack in Montana.

We strongly encourage you to continue with crate training your puppy. We’ve started the process of introducing them to it in a positive manner. A crate offers your puppy a safe, quiet place to rest and take a break from the activity of the home.

We have an excellent trainer friend that offers this free course on crate training which answers a lot of common questions, goes over the different types of crates, and teaches you how to introduce the crate to your new friend. Check out this link to his course! While you’re on his site, check out his other courses like Puppy Training (revised edition), which comes with the purchase price of your puppy, at no extra charge.
