PUPPY TRAINING

Puppies are like children in many ways.  Most importantly, how & when you start training them with basic manners & self discipline is of the utmost importance.  The time to start seriously training your puppy is immediately, not whenever it’s convenient and fits into your schedule.  Otherwise, you have just given them that much time to start forming bad habits which is not helpful to you or fair to them.

Labrador Retriever puppies have a reputation of being highly obedient and very easy to train.  Of course, each puppy learns at their own pace, so please be patient and train with positive reinforcement only.

Osborne Family Retrievers recommends a wonderful online puppy school at this link:  www.baxterandbella.com  We are sure it will meet and exceed your expectations of having a well-trained puppy.  Of course, you must be faithful to work the program, but they make it very enjoyable. There are tons of videos to help you thoroughly understand the entire training process so that your best friend will be enjoyed by your entire family at a very young age.

The entire program, which is incredible, is a fraction of what you would pay to take your puppy to regular classes for 6-12 weeks and then forget what you both learned a little later.  Once you join, you have lifetime access to the classes for review or to use with your next puppy!   We are pleased to offer you the following code OFR25 for a substantial discount.

NUTRITION

Our main goals, here at Osborne Family Retrievers, are to produce the best possible puppies regarding their health, temperament and looks.  The two main factors that we can control regarding these priorities are breeding and nutrition.

We recommend Dr. Gary’s Best Breed dog foodThe founding philosophy behind the Best Breed formulas is what Dr. Gary Cotton, the founder, calls “Common Sense Nutrition.”  Common Sense Nutrition disregards the usual marketing and cost control techniques often used by the larger conglomerate-type pet food companies and simply develops the healthiest all-natural dog foods possible.

Each of the recipes are formulated with one goal in mind and that is to promote holistic pet health from the inside out.  When your dog eats a higher quality diet that contains a greater percentage of quality ingredients, it will result in reduced feeding amounts, decreased veterinarian visits and an overall healthier, happier pet.

Here are just a few of the many benefits of Dr. Gary’s Best Breed dog food:

Shiny Coat & Healthy Skin

Since inception, Dr. Gary has focused on skin and coat health by using lots of omega-3 fatty acids from high quality sources such as fish oils and flax seed.  The nutritional integrity of these important nutrients is then protected from light and air by high barrier packaging.  Omega-3s are balanced with Omega-6s for optimal performance.

Lean Muscle Development

Highly digestible sources of protein from meat is critical for lean muscle regeneration.  Dr. Gary’s foods are balanced with more than enough of the meat protein required to supply the essential amino acids needed for healthy muscle development.  They only use the highest sources available, including chicken, salmon, whitefish, lamb and eggs.

Increased Energy & Stamina

In addition to high quality meat protein and omega fatty acids, energy and stamina also come from carbohydrates.  Dr. Gary’s foods do not contain corn, soy or wheat; instead they use healthy, whole grains like oats, barley and brown rice.  In addition, they include grain-alternative ingredients like blueberries, green peas, chick peas and lentils that are healthier options than potatoes.

Healthy Joints & Connective Tissue

Studies have shown that about 50% of dogs over the age of eight start to develop arthritis in their joints.  All of the Best Breed formulas contain significant amounts of naturally-derived glucosamine.

Active Gastrointestinal System

The immune system begins in the GI tract making stomach and intestinal health critical for holistic pet health.  Recognizing this, Dr. Gary formulated his foods using sources of fiber with pre- and pro-biotic characteristics that synergistically work together to feed good bacteria in the stomach and intestines.  Using the correct level and combinations of fiber also keeps food moving through the GI tract at a more healthful rate, leading to a solid and consistent stool.

As a result of our research and discussions with our vet about his research, Osborne Family Retrievers highly recommends Dr. Gary’s Best Breed dog food for the lifetime of your new family member!
